Hi Matteo! Thank you for your suggestion. In fact, this has been
requested in the past by others as well. However, in usability studies
and by the design criteria of the Ubuntu Software Center designer, it
was decided that it is better to show the user *how* they can launch
their newly launched app via the recommended (and standard) way, which
is by using the Unity launcher. This is much preferable from a usability
standpoint that have two completely seperate methods for launching
applications.

If you'd like to read further, this design is specified here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#Learning_how_to_launch_an_application

And this has been implemented now in Precise.

So, based on this, I will close this one now. Thank you again!

Title:
[wishlist] 'Launch' button for installed software

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: software-center

I think it would be useful to add the possibility to launch from Software
Center a piece of software you have (just) installed.
  Let's say, for example, that I'd like to install a text-editor: I start a
search from Software Center and I choose to install 'Scite Text Editor'.
Software Center downloads it and tells me that it will be in
Applications>Programming>Scite Text Editor, so I'll have to go there to launch
it.
It would be nice to launch it directly from inside Software Center, since if
you choose to install some software, you are likely to need it more or less at
once.
