Public bug reported:
I am using a Lenovo fingerprint reader with USB ID 06cb:009a. The Lenovo
firmware installer successfully downloaded
and validated the firmware:
Firmware version: 6.07.0164
Firmware file: 6_07f_lenovo_mis_qm.xpfwext
SHA256: ed2b1b5818c4072dd5c1a66e5d556888e81e3806ab0fc653164bea823ccfa2b1
Installed at:
/var/lib/libfprint/validity/6_07f_lenovo_mis_qm.xpfwext
However, the installer reports:
No firmware was flashed to the reader.
The fingerprint reader is still unavailable/not detected by the
fingerprint service.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect or boot the Lenovo laptop with the built-in fingerprint reader.
2. Run the Lenovo firmware installer.
3. Observe that the firmware is validated and installed locally.
4. Run:
fprintd-enroll
Expected result:
The fingerprint reader should be detected and allow fingerprint
enrollment.
Actual result:
The firmware is staged successfully, but no firmware is flashed and
fingerprint enrollment does not work.

fully supported by the Ubuntu
libfprint/fprintd packages, and whether the firmware should be flashed
automatically or only staged for later use.
