We should test for leaks after monitor sleep or hotplugging events. Certainly these are very system-specific as each model of monitor will do its own thing and can incur different feedback loops. That could explain why most people don't see a problem, although I would expect even a leak on each lock/unlock to have been noticed and reported by more people.
