The crash was caused by libim-scim.so being incompatible with the GTK4 version shipped in 24.04. I removed it and no longer have an issue. sudo apt remove scim libscim8v5

It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Run these commands: journalctl -b0 > journal.txt journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt and attach the resulting text files here. 2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** No longer affects: xorg (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2119006 Title: Nautilis crashes when pressing search button Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Upgraded from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04, now in the Nautilus file manager when I press the search button the program crashes and the following is produced in the syslog: 2025-07-29T08:43:48.201146-04:00 josh-mini-desktop kernel: nautilus[89238]: segfault at e0000 ip 000070d14c599a96 sp 00007ffe4fe96970 error 4 in libX11.so.6.4.0[70d14c590000+90000] likely on CPU 9 (core 3, socket 0) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 Package: nautilus 1:46.4-0ubuntu0.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.8.0-71.71-generic 6.8.12 Uname: Linux 6.8.0-71-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.28.1-0ubuntu3.8 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Tue Jul 29 08:50:41 2025 GsettingsChanges: b'org.gnome.nautilus.icon-view' b'default-zoom-level' b"'large'" b'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' b'default-folder-viewer' b"'list-view'" b'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' b'migrated-gtk-settings' b'true' b'org.gnome.nautilus.window-state' b'initial-size' b'(1654, 1311)' InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-12-10 (2423 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180725) SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to noble on 2025-07-28 (1 days ago) usr_lib_nautilus: file-roller 44.3-0ubuntu1 nautilus-extension-gnome-terminal 3.52.0-1ubuntu2 nautilus-share 0.7.5-0.3build2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2119006/+subscriptions -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2119006 Title: Nautilis crashes when pressing search button To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2119006/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
