Thanks for the bug report. This is an issue I've been tracking for a few days:
https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/3eeb40f2bfda80a6bfa3b538516c3a251ce01b51 and in fact it's the top crasher of gnome-shell in 26.04 crash reports. I've tried to reproduce it but so far failed. Fundamentally it seems like a bug in Mesa. Before installation you should be able to work around it using the safe graphics boot option, or alternatively add kernel parameters: modprobe.blacklist=nouveau nouveau.modeset=0 And after installation you should avoid it by installing an official Nvidia driver such as: ubuntu-drivers install --recommended ** Package changed: mutter (Ubuntu) => mesa (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Tags added: regression-release ** Also affects: mesa (Ubuntu Resolute) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Resolute) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: mesa (Ubuntu Stonking) Importance: High Status: New ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Stonking) Importance: High Status: New ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu Stonking) Milestone: None => ubuntu-26.10 ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu Resolute) Milestone: None => resolute-updates ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu Resolute) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Resolute) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu Resolute) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Resolute) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2150244 Title: [nouveau] [zink] gnome-shell crashes with free(): invalid pointer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2150244/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
