Thanks for the bug report. This is an issue I've been tracking for a few

and in fact it's the top crasher of gnome-shell in 26.04 crash reports.
I've tried to reproduce it but so far failed.

Fundamentally it seems like a bug in Mesa. Before installation you
should be able to work around it using the safe graphics boot option, or
alternatively add kernel parameters:

  modprobe.blacklist=nouveau nouveau.modeset=0

And after installation you should avoid it by installing an official
Nvidia driver such as:

  ubuntu-drivers install --recommended
