You have been subscribed to a public bug:
After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04 (current development branch), several Snaps
have lost core UI functionality. The menu bars (File, Edit, Tools, etc.) are
non-functional, and mouse-driven interactions like "Copy/Paste" via context
menus are failing.
OS: Ubuntu 26.04 (Development Branch)
Snapd version: 2.74.1
Desktop Environment: GNOME (default)
Display Server: Wayland
Affected Applications
The issue is not isolated to a single package, suggesting a systemic
problem with snapd or xdg-desktop-portal.
Slack (Snap version)
Steam (Snap version)
Note: These applications haven't been updated recently, and worked
correctly on Ubuntu 25.10.
Steps to Reproduce
Install Ubuntu 26.04.
Install Slack or Steam via Snap: sudo snap install slack.
Launch the application.
Attempt to click on any item in the top menu bar (e.g., "File").
Attempt to right-click and copy/paste text within the app.
The menu bar is visible but unresponsive to clicks.
Clipboard actions (copy/paste) via mouse do not trigger.
Communication between the Snap and the host system seems degraded.
The menu bar should be interactive and the clipboard should function as it did
in Ubuntu 25.10.
Thanks! While this might not be a critical system failure, it
significantly hinders user productivity and workflow. Furthermore, it
could be symptomatic of deeper underlying regressions in how Snapd
communicates with the host's desktop services
** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Confirmed
