I found a setting in gconf-editor:
/desktop/gnome/background/picture_opacity
The default is set to 100, but changing the value doesn't seem to have
any effect. If I set it to e.g. 50, I expect the wallpaper to be half
transparent, showing whatever is underneath, respecting the colors I've
chosen for
/desktop/gnome/background/primary_color
/desktop/gnome/background/secondary_color
and the value chosen for
/desktop/gnome/background/color_shading_type
Those last three values work as expected, but I only see a background
color if I disable the background picture. I cannot see any background
color just by reducing the opacity of the background picture.
Using Ubuntu 10.10, GNOME 1:2.28+1ubuntu4, gconf-editor 2.32.0-0ubuntu1.
Not sure which package this would be in.
