Ubuntu 8.10
IBM Thinkpad T43
FGLRX Driver

Docking station with two 1600x1200 monitors attached.

Upon docking my Thinkpad to its docking station, I expected the Screen
Resolution application to be able to see both of my external monitors &
that I am able to conveniently switch to using the two external monitors
at their native resolution. I also expect help & report a problem
feature to work in the application.

Instead, upon dock, my native screen does continue to work, but I am
greeted with one external monitor that is garbage (not syncing
properly). (BTW, I can tell that the system is attempting to mirror the
native screen because I can see "something" happening on the external
when I mouse around and type on the native screen.) When I click help,
I get nothing.

When I look at the Screen Resolution panel (suing the laptop's native
screen), I only see the one monitor, and no selections for 1600x1200.
So, there is no way that I can find to fix this so that I can switch
between undocked (one native monitor, docked (two external monitors)
cleanly.

What I really, really want is to assign hotkeys (Windows-F7 and Fn-F7)
that will switch/toggle my monitor mode automatically between different
modes at highest possible resolution:

o Mirror native with single external
          o Dual native/external
          o Dual external

I would then use Screen Resolution as a fall-back in case I had a
specific need for a special resolution.
