Follow-up Comment #1:

In Denemo terminology Alt-m is a one-key shortcut. Keys like shift, ctrl alt
etc are "modifier" keys.
So pressing Alt-m twice was the correct way to set the two-key shortcut Alt-m,
Alt-m

I tested just now with version 2.6.42 on Debian and no crash happened on
deleting that shortcut.

The default keyboard shortcuts have Alt-m as the shortcut for navigating to a
measure, so you cannot set a two-key shortcut starting Alt-m without deleting
that one-key shortcut first. As you don't mention getting the dialog that
tells you this, I guess you already did delete that?
