I've added a new Educational->MIDI command to enable practising playing by ear. The instructions come with the command:
"Five notes are played at random from the current bar. You must play the last one on the MIDI keyboard to score. You can paste as many different notes as you like into a bar - if you include the same note many times you will get that one more often. You can cheat by looking at the Denemo cursor position. Invoke the command again to stop." The simplest application is to pack a C major scale into a bar and leave the cursor there. Then invoke the command and try to pick out the last note played each time. I suspect there is a wide variation in "natural talent" with people trying this - I've always felt it to be one of my weakest points. I'd be interested in hearing from music teachers at how their students get on with it...
