I do not remember what has to be done. I believe you have to force a
rebuild. You can probably just touch guile.mk and try again. You may have
to have it uninstall the static version. It would probably be a good idea
to update the .mk files on the server. I am just scared that if I break
something I don't know when I will have time to fix what went wrong.

Jeremiah - my MXE build suddenly stopped working a while back and I
need to get it working again to fix the Windows keyboard woes. I
started afresh from git clone mxe and taking settings.mk and denemo.mk,
 fluidsynth etc as before.
It's failing on make denemo saying it can't find guile during
configure.
When I do make guile I get

[disabled]    guile                  i686-w64-mingw32.shared

I noticed your guile.mk was different from the official on on mxe
theirs ends with
$(PKG)_BUILD_SHARED =
 so I installed your guile.mk instead but the problem persists - do I
have to do something to force it to re-consider making guile?
