I thought I'd give this another try, since the proprietary drivers (as packaged for Debian) are unavailable for the 2.6.22 kernels. As before, it hangs the system so badly that only a manual power off fixes things. For me, this bug is very severe: it hangs the entire system, and exposes me to security risks because I must stay with an older kernel.
