FYI, I've gone to the trouble of making a patch to bring us up to his patch #202. The patch doesn't seem to have made it through to the list yet, but nobody should duplicate the effort. I think the effort was worth it even if xterm is being split out soon, as it provides a baseline to compare the independent package to, to avoid regressions. There is one issue: there are three tiny changes by "tsi" from XFree86 *after* the last version we found clean. (Yes, I vetted it for any other changes originating from XFree86.) Two of them are just additions of CVS keywords and the other one is a small change to an error message.
