I have begun to compile the history of the Debian Project and SPI in
preperation for the Debian Birthday celebration and for the web site.

The first revision is available at
http://master.debian.org/~lowe/debian-history.txt
but is not complete. This is as much information as I have been able to
collect thus far. Anyone who has relevant information, please send it to
me :) ... I've bcc'd -devel, -www and a few individuals so that replies
come back only to me. If you're not on the lists, you've received a copy
of this, and you _don't_ want to help, please let me know and I'll stop
sending stuff like this to you.

I'm searching for the following things in particular:
Early beginnings of the project, under Ian Murdock
        goals
people involved & the work they did
Major milestones
Organization of the project
(rumors of the Debian Board of Directors)
        (beginning of the election setup)
SPI
        who started it & why?
Other people to contact who might have information I'm looking for

Thanks to those who've helped already.
                                                        Will
