Hi, it's been way too long since i've last worked on mail-notification. I no longer have the energy nor motivation to properly maintain it. Those who have followed mail-notification thru the years might be already aware that the upstream author can be uncooperative to various degrees. e.g. SSL support is not included as the upstream disagrees with the FSF interpretation of the OpenSSL (OpenSSL+GPL issue)(see [1]). Upstream also refuses to use the GNUTLS patches proposed to workaround this issue and seems to be willing to resort to trademark to prevent it from being merged w/o a name change(see [2]). All in all, this is a great application that would benefit from a new motivated maintainer. I sincerely hope someone will step up and will do whatever necessary to bring SSL support back in (even if it implies renaming the package and merging the GNUTLS patch in). Of course, i'm willing to answer whatever question you might have and even assist/comaintain if you will.
