I built a debian package of GanttProject (current version: 2.0.6,
licensed under GNU/GPL v.2), which is downloadable on my launchpad's bazaar:

The package has been tested on my Debian Lenny (up-to-date: 2008/06/08)
and needs the Sun Java 5/6 package (present in the non-free repository).
All is working perfectly well except a full MIME integration in Gnome
(although it works on my HardyHeron): unable to associate the .gan files
with their Gnome launcher.
Need probably some extra tests. Hope this help !
