Description : Framework for biometric-based authentication

 The BioAPI provides a high-level generic biometric authentication model;
one suited for any form of biometric technology. It covers the basic functions
of Enrollment, Verification, and Identification, and includes a database
interface to allow a biometric service provider (BSP) to manage the
 Identification population for optimum performance.

This nice framework make.s it possible to use the UPEK Fingerprint Reader.
The reader is build in on many laptops. With the pam-extension pam-bioapi we can
integrat the authentication to the PAM.

A nice howto can be found on

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_enable_the_fingerprint_reader

On my system I hafe successful build the deb with the additionl dpatch for
building with gcc 4.1

But my packaging-knowlege is not the best... i think the package must be split
in to bioapi, bioapi-dev and bioapi-tools.

A additions package for the "closed source"-"driver" from UPEK.

And the pam-bioapi package shuld also be splittet in a tool package?!

Greatings,
Thomas

Hello,

I'm closing this bug because bioapi free releases are really old now and
better alternatives exist (like thinkfinger or libfprint).
