Daniel, I completely understand where you're coming from on that. I *just* did that, as a way to try out my new HSH system. I was not entirely satisfied that I got everything quoted correctly in the shell version (wrt filenames with spaces/other special chars), and frankly didn't want to have to spend an inordinate amount of time figuring out how to make sure it was right. So switching to a language without the shell's trouble with undesired interpolation at times was a win in my eyes. Having said that, if you feel good enough with the shell to cast a critical eye over it and fix those problems, I wouldn't have a problem moving it back to a shell implementation.
