AFAIK it works only on the _non_ pro models, it really writes the registers of the intel i945 graphic card. I think that mactel-linux has an utility to do that, but I can't test it. If you are interested try the utils (available in the svn repository) of mactel-linux. If they woks we could make these programs converge to a common interface and then put them in the same package.
