Byron Moore / Intel Corp. * URL : http://developer.intel.com/technology/iapc/acpi/ * License : GPLv2 / Other (see below) Description : an ASL compiler/decompiler iasl compiles ASL (ACPI Source Language) into AML (ACPI Machine Language). This AML is suitable for inclusion as a DSDT in system firmware. It also can disassemble AML, for debugging purposes. --- [debian-legal: please Cc me as I'm not subscribed] I'm not very comfortable with the licence language and I'd like somebody to proof-read it before uploading this stuff. I'd say this licence grants enough rights, but there are also a lot of "must". BTW: on [1] it's reported that the code has been GPLed for the Linux package but I'd say that it's referring to the kernel code only: # grep -r GPL * changes.txt:MODULE_LICENSE("GPL") to all modules. tools/acpisrc/asmain.c:" * GNU General Public License (\"GPL\") version 2 as published by the Free\n" Can somebody help? http://developer.intel.com/technology/iapc/acpi/license2.htm Last minute add-on: the acpica-unix-xxxxxxxx.tar.gz provides a linuxification tool that "converts the standard form of the acpica source release (included here) into a version that meets Linux coding guidelines. This consists mainly of performing a series of string replacements and transformations to the code" and adds a GPLv2 token to each file. Unfortunately the code doesn't compile after the linuxification (I still didn't poke with the code to see if they are easy fixable bugs). More suggestions? are there similar cases? thanks -- mattia :wq! --------------------------------------- Received: (at 333603-close) by bugs.debian.org; 30 Oct 2005 17:38:01 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Oct 30 09:38:01 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from joerg by spohr.debian.org with local (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1EWH4D-0000Gp-00; Sun, 30 Oct 2005 09:34:01 -0800 From: Mattia Dongili <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: lisa $Revision: 1.30 $ Subject: Bug#333603: fixed in acpica-unix 20050930-1 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Joerg Jaspert <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 30 Oct 2005 09:34:01 -0800 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 Source: acpica-unix Source-Version: 20050930-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of acpica-unix, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: acpica-unix_20050930-1.diff.gz to pool/main/a/acpica-unix/acpica-unix_20050930-1.diff.gz acpica-unix_20050930-1.dsc to pool/main/a/acpica-unix/acpica-unix_20050930-1.dsc acpica-unix_20050930.orig.tar.gz to pool/main/a/acpica-unix/acpica-unix_20050930.orig.tar.gz iasl_20050930-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/acpica-unix/iasl_20050930-1_i386.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
