Hello, After browsing the list of wanted packages, I found this one. A lot has happened since the original request. In testting for example there is now a package dosemu-freedos (see http://packages.debian.org/testing/otherosfs/dosemu-freedos).
However the mentioned package doesn't resolve point 2 of the original request. The dosemu-freedos package is also in contrib because it depends on non-free software. Or is it? In the build.txt of the FreeDOS kernel I found the following: "The recommended compiler and assembler at the time of writing (2004/01/31) are OpenWatcom 1.2 and NASM 0.98.38." OpenWatcom (http://www.openwatcom.org/about/info_content.html) is a project to free the commercial Watcom compiler. It's license is IMHO free. The Nasm package is already available as a package and it's license is LGPL. So should the title be changed to someting like "RFP: OpenWatcom -- a compiler needed to build FreeDOS" ? Or may be we should close this request and open a new one for the OpenWatcom? I don't see the right procedure, but I hope this post clarifies some things. Regards, Henk van de Kamer
