Raymond <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://www.catb.org/~esr/comparator/ * License : see below Description : A program for quickly finding common sections in source trees This is a program for rapidly finding common segments in large source-code trees. comparator chops the specified trees into overlapping shreds, computes the MD5 hash of each shred, and generates a report listing all cliques of lines with duplicate hashes. The program is capable of generating a hash list for a source code tree which can be used in place of the tree itself. Thus, it is possible to do comparisons with source trees without having access to the actual source code, providing someone who has access is willing to ship you a hash list. Note: there is no copyright statement anywhere in the source tree for comparator. Given the identity of the author, I think it's safe to assume he intends to give it some sort of open license, so I'll email him for details. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux wisteria 2.4.20-3-k7 #1 Sun Jul 27 21:10:39 EST 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C --------------------------------------- Received: (at 209373-done) by bugs.debian.org; 11 Apr 2004 03:26:13 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Apr 10 20:26:13 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from postoffice02.princeton.edu (Princeton.EDU) [128.112.130.38] (root) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1BCVbo-0004A0-00; Sat, 10 Apr 2004 20:26:12 -0700 Received: from smtpserver1.Princeton.EDU (smtpserver1.Princeton.EDU [128.112.129.65]) by Princeton.EDU (8.12.9/8.12.9) with ESMTP id i3B3Q6Ec024520; Sat, 10 Apr 2004 23:26:10 -0400 (EDT) Received: from boater.Princeton.EDU (boater.Princeton.EDU [128.112.129.189]) (authenticated bits=0) by smtpserver1.Princeton.EDU (8.12.9/8.12.9) with ESMTP id i3B3Q5pK015240 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA bits=168 verify=NOT); Sat, 10 Apr 2004 23:26:06 -0400 (EDT) Received: from boater.Princeton.EDU (IDENT:[EMAIL PROTECTED] [127.0.0.1]) by boater.Princeton.EDU (8.12.11/8.12.11) with ESMTP id i3B3Q5JH014657; Sat, 10 Apr 2004 23:26:05 -0400 Received: from localhost ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) by boater.Princeton.EDU (8.12.11/8.12.11/Submit) with ESMTP id i3B3Q4YB014654; Sat, 10 Apr 2004 23:26:05 -0400 X-Authentication-Warning: boater.Princeton.EDU: kmccarty owned process doing -bs Date: Sat, 10 Apr 2004 23:26:04 -0400 (EDT) From: "Kevin B. Hi Justin, No one seems interested in sponsoring comparator for me (I've asked several times on debian-mentors), and to be honest, I've kind of lost interest in the program myself. So I am just closing the bug (this email is CC'ed to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) rather than re-titling. If anyone becomes interested in the future, I can send them my diff.gz, etc. Thanks for the reminder. -- Kevin B.
