You had some oversights: - Again, you don't need to build-depend on gcc-3.3 - Does it compile when autoconf2.13 is installed? if it doesn't, add autoconf2.13 to build-conflicts - Automake versions are commonly incompatible. Which automake version do you need? Build-Depend on a particular version (e.g, automake1.8) instead. - You removed the build dependency on the following libraries i mentioned, but didn't replace them with their corresponding -dev packages.
