Hello, I'm the uploader and also upstream of Galois. I wasn't aware that libxml++2.6 is obsolete. Thanks for letting me know.
Of course I'm interested in upgrading to a newer version. Reading from <https://libxmlplusplus.github.io/libxmlplusplus/> it looks like I want version 4.0 (Galois is based on gtkmm so I have no reason to move away from Glib::ustring, and I'd like to keep UTF-8 support). But I don't know either what is the difference (and incompatibility?) between Glib::ustring in glibmm-2.4 and 2.68. Anyway, if nobody else is going to package the newer versions, I might give it a try. But my experience with Debian packaging is limited to Galois, which is a very simple package, so I can't guarantee that I'll be able to succeed. Meanwhile, there's no plan to remove libxml++2.6 from Debian unless it gets some unfixed RC bug, is there? Gerardo
