Having missed this ITP somehow, I have separately packaged pytest-tap and even got a working backport for Debian 12. I quickly conversed with Simon privately and we agreed to combine our efforts. Now the plan is for me to prepare an upload to unstable in the existing git repository at https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/pytest-tap .
