Hi,

Thanks for filing this tracking bug.

I'd encourage anyone who's interested in seeing ungoogled-chromium support in debian move forward, who also has the time & expertise: please help update and sort through the list of ungoogled-chromium patches listed in [2]. I simply haven't had time, as maintaining chromium and then having to do related backports/fixes of llvm-toolchain-* and rustc compilers ends up being a lot. You can use salsa to open a merge request with updates to [2], and then I can handle adding the useful patches to the chromium debian package.

Thanks,
Andres

Dear Maintainer,

This bug aims to make it easier to track progress on the list of
ungoogled-chromium [1] patches [2] that are potentially under
consideration for improving Debian Chromium privacy.

There's an ITP for a parallel "ungoogled-chromium" package filed as
bug #939046 [3] with stated intentions to package made in 2019 and
2020 by two different people. Personally, I don't see any point
creating a parallel package: anyone who understand chromium
code well enough to be able to propose ungoogling should best
work with Debian Chromium maintainers for the existing package.

Feel free to improve the Debian wiki comments on Chromium privacy
risks [4].
