The effort required to add each of these low-level interfaces into an application is relatively high. libblkio provides a single API for efficiently accessing block devices and eliminates the need to write custom code for each one. This package will be used by block device backends in qemu, to begin with, to provide virtualised access to block devices. The core of it is written in rust, but it is used from C-language code too. It also needs some rust crates to be packaged too (I'm working on that). /mjt
