Many of these macros are defined by other packages, and supplied in the lib*-dev packages or equivalents. If any of autoconf-archive files are stored under /usr/share/aclocal it means that you could be conflicting with another package, or worse, causing aclocal to randomly pick different versions of the same macro depending on the weather. It would be better for these to be either renamed with a common prefix ACMA_ for example, or stored in a different directory entirely so they have to be manually included in acinclude.m4 Scott
