Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : filmulator
  Version         : 0.11.0
  Upstream Author : CarVac
* URL             : https://filmulator.org/
* License         : GPL-3+
  Programming Lang: C++, Qt
  Description : Simplified raw editing with the power of film

Filmulator accepts raw files from cameras and simulates the
development of film as if exposed to the same light as the camera's
sensor. For various reasons, this inherently brings about several
benefits:

 * Large bright regions become darker, compressing the output dynamic
   range.
 * Small bright regions make their surroundings darker, enhancing
   local contrast.
 * In bright regions, saturation is enhanced, helping retain color in
   blue skies, brighter skin tones, and sunsets.
 * In extremely saturated regions, the brightness is attenuated,
   helping retain detail e.g. in flowers.

The program's design ideology is to have the best tool for any job,
and only that one tool. The tradeoff here is a slight decrease in
flexibility, but gaining a greatly simplified and streamlined user
interface.

======

I currently use Darktable, Rapid-photo-downloader, geequie, thunar,
and git-annex, and sometimes other stuff in my RAW workflow. It's a
mess. This looks much simpler and solves a problem I have so much
trouble fixing in Darktable (highlights). And I have less and less
time dealing with complicated software, so I like this one.

It might also be compared to RawTherapee.

It looks like all the dependencies are already in Debian, so it's a
fairly straightforward package to ship. It should probably be kept out
of stable for now, as it's in its early development stages.

I do not plan to maintain this package, and merely open this to see if
someone will, or at least avoid duplication of work.
