The market for law firm software is almost completely dominated by proprietary solutions. j-lawyer.org is a professional and free alternative for all commercial software solutions. It includes document management, address and file management, but also functions like direct search in judgements and laws. The software is built on a three-tier architecture based on a database (MySQL or MariaDB), middleware (Wildfly AS) and a client (Java). This application won the third prize of Thomas-Krenn-Award 2019. While libreoffice-canzeley-client is designed for smaller law firms, j-lawyer.org satisfies the needs of larger ones. I do not use it myself because I am the author of Canzeley (upstream of libreoffice-canzeley-client), but j-lawyer.org is a very important component to establish Free Software in companies.
