In this case I would recommend that you get packaging practice with some simpler packages first. Also, in my opinion, it only makes sense to maintain if you are actually using apache2 yourself. You could also look for bugs in packages you use and care about and try to fix those. If you want to look at bugs in apache2, that's fine, too. Maybe the rc-alert tool in the devscripts package can help you identify interesting bugs / packages. Cheers, Stefan
