Well, Perl6 and Rakudo have 2 different life cycles: * perl6 and rakudo have different version numbers * rakudo is updated quite often whereas there's no plan for a perl 6d (*) We may also want to switch to another compiler (in a distant future), so having a separate source package will make this hypothetical transition easier .
