A lots of laptops has broken DSDTs. So many of us need to hack the code to load a local table instead of the bios one. Currently on my Compaq Presario current patch would be unuseful... http://www.dcc.ufmg.br/~ghuiban/compaq_presario_2805/linux.html Maybe you need some deep hack in acpi code to apply.
