Hi Agarwal and others, Surprised that this ITP was fired 7 years ago!
Yes, Komal and I are working on Android SDK this summer, and we are not only interested in the android tools, but also the SDK. Currently Komal is working on the "SDK Tools" part which is the existing "androidsdk-tools" package, and I am working on "SDK Built-tools" and "SDK Platform-tool". These tools are composed of various small components like aapt, aidl, hprof-conv and of course adb and fastboot. First we will get these tools into Debian, then we will make several meta packages. In my opinion, someday I may retitle this bug to "ITP: androidsdk -- xxx" which serves as the meta package. Our current plan of meta package is to make 4 of them: androidsdk-tools, androidsdk-build-tools, androidsdk-platform-tools and androidsdk. Installing the last one will pull the rest. We separate three parts of the SDK because they have different version schemes. Every packages installed by the meta packages installs symlinks of the tools to the right location in /usr/share/android-sdk, thus we can have a fake SDK home in the system. More information see: * Debian Wiki: <https://wiki.debian.org/AndroidTools> * Week 10 Report: <http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/soc-coordination/2015-August/002640.html> * Week 9 Report: <http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/soc-coordination/2015-July/002620.html> However due to time restriction, the Android emulator is not in our summer plan. After GSoC 2015 period, I will continue on the unfinished part of the entire SDK. Also, thank you for trying the tools! We'd like to get any feedback!
