I am not a Debian Developer. If you are not one yourself, you will need to find an sponsor. My sponsor is not doing work for Debian anymore either, so I have no indications for you either. As far as maintaining the package goes, I forwarded a few bugs upstream, but he is just unresponsive. The most important things I did was to upgrade the package to 1.0b7 and switch to 3.0 quilt. Other than that, I expect all you are going to do is looking around bugs that were not yet forwarded to the unresponsive upstream and update debian policy. Currently git repository points to my personal server, you would probably like to make it point to some Debian repository. There is no work there which isn't currently applied to the package, though. If you are feeling adventurous, you can try and fix some of the bugs yourself. That was the next thing I was thinking on doing.
