Cinelerra is the heir of broadcast2000 though a lot more movie making oriented : the big problem is (it s already gpl) -> it has its own quicktime, mpeg libs that overwrite the ones from debian base install (especially mpeg3cat) thus corrupting a lot of other apps.
I am pretty confident it s a valuable tool : it s bit more a professional application than home studio ... but less than bcast2000 anyway repository : http://sourceforge.net/projects/heroines/
