It's similar, but it 

 * doesn't use git
 * doesn't expose password contexts to the local disk
 * much smaller and lighter weight
 * uses gpgme bindings instead of exec'ing gpg

Probably most importantly, Assword has an X integration feature that
types passwords directly into windows without exposing them to the
screen or to the clipboard.
