wild idea (sorry if I missed that brought up before): since Debian xorg-server packaging is under git, why not make xorg-server a submodule pointing to the corresponding (might differ for wheeze-vs-squeezebackport branches) treeish of git://git.debian.org/git/pkg-xorg/xserver/xorg-server then it would make it easy to stay up-to-date with Debian packaging and bug fixes brought up to xorg-server package, reuse their debian/copyright, and may be even more? if needed I could take care about rewriting current pkg-tigervnc eliminating current copy of xorg-server to minimize .git cons: not sure how well it would play with git-buildpackage, although I see in its source code some logic to handle submodules, so it might be all smooth and nice
I have just moved the git submodule code out of the way in favour of tarball imports with pristine-tar. As far as I understand, the xorg source has to be in the package, not in Git though. Hmmm...
For being +/- independent from pkg-xorg Git changes the pristine-tar approach is probably better. The probability that such a Git change might occur is rather low, though.
Hmmm... hmmm... hmmm...I am happy with any approach. I am just more used to handling things with pristine-tar...
