When I adopted the bind packages a long time ago, a previous maintainer had picked up this version of 'host' and folded it into the bind source tree so that it would be part of the 'dnsutils' binary package. When BIND 9.X was released and I restructured the BIND packaging, I broke this out as a separate package. More recently, I've created the package bind9-host to deliver the version of 'host' that comes with the BIND 9.X source from the ISC. The two versions of host have similar but different options. I prefer the one from the ISC because it works better for me than this one. The NIKHEF version was last released upstream in 1999. It has a number of open bugs, some of which I think will be difficult to resolve. Please be sure to have a look at the open bugs in the BTS and the sourcecode to the package before you decide to adopt this one...
