Then I'll happily use it instead of creating my own. I'll just do what I can do now. Or, if the Maintainer, Jim Mintha, already worked on this patch as Enrique did for his newt pacakge, then It'll be better for us. I think the maintainer judges if it can be merged or not. And It seems me that he does not have any intention to do so now since he has not commented the discussions on debian-boot list most of which are copied to him. So I think that the separate (forked) package is better since the NMU should not be done against the will of the maintainer.
