Defoma stands for Debian Font Manager. It provides automatic font
configuration framework and some nice useful features like alias,
priority and substitution.

One of the components, defoma-ps manages PostScript fonts.
It includes a program to register PostScript fonts installed
in a PostScript printer, which enables these fonts appear
in the font-choosing menu of postscript-outputting applications.
In addition, it provides a list of available PostScript fonts and XLFDs
which substitute for the PostScript fonts, so that X applications
which need a pair of a PostScript font and a XLFD for their
font configuration can easily perform font configuration.

There were no framework for automatic font configuration so
applications force users to manage to do configure fonts by
themselves. I belieave Defoma will solve this problem.
