Not without more information and the exact error message. First you need
to tell how you want to start Gnome. Did you install a login manager
(gdm,xdm,kdm,wdm)? Does it start? Next, tell if running startx from the
command line works. If it doesn't, what is the error message? Is it
Gnome or XFree that doesn't work (i.e. do other window managers work)?
If it is XFree, what type of graphic card do you use? How did you
configure your X server?
