hi uwe, another point: i downloaded a couple of minutes ago a dutch version of openoffice 1.1.1 with a built-in <working> spellchecker. so: the developers have more sense than i thought yesterday and this morning. just a case of bad - and now good! - timing so it seems.
Would be even worse ! If there was a spell-checker in OO_nl, why would we not get it for other languages ? And, btw., I prefer 'Save', Data', instead of 'opslagen' and 'gegevens' of zoiets.

I do get the nerves and the shivers of the newest trend in parts of the community to make everything <automatic> just like the automatic install of the dutch spell-checker. this is a kind of window-ism that will set a trend of dependency and despicable <consumentism> within a community of autonomous individuals <choosing> to work together.
Another exemple of this trend could become the new debian-installer with p.e. <automatic> hardware-detection. This must not go too far, I think. Because it could deprive me of the pleasure I felt in earlier years, when, for the first time, I, fully on my own discovered <modconf> (with some help of Wilmer van der Gaast) and I was able to install my network card and es1370 sound card. A small but significant victory. This hard way is the best, I think.
To put all this together: I downloaded the dutch version of openoffice , but did not install it. I kept my english version aand installed in that version nl_NL.zip in ..../dict/ooo.
