Just wondered if anybody else is having this problem in debian unstable
now. It doesn't look like a charter cable problem.
when I boot up, my computer gets to the point where it announces that it
is using the old ip address and gives the ip address, and then it just
sits there and won't boot any further. So I've taken
auto eth0
out of my /etc/network/interfaces. One I am logged in, I can run dhcpcd
manually just fine, except that when I do this I see the info for the
ethernet card going past, then my root command prompt, then the info about
the ip address, and then I have to hit enter to get back to my command
line prompt. so I wonder if that's what the program is doing when I try to
do it from bootup--waiting for an "enter" that will never come. I am
booting into console, not X, just so you have the whole picture. I haven't
seen any other complaints about this; one thing I could try is using pump
to see whether the problem is with the ipup-ipdown packaging or the dhcpcd
package. I do know that ifupdown has been in the list of upgraded packages
several times lately.
Just would like to know if others have had this difficulty on unstable
recently and if there's a fix for it I can do on my machine.
Thanks.
