Hi,

This may by off topic here, but I am hoping somebody using Debian has encountered this or at least can point me in the right direction.

When I generate a ps file from dvi (obtained by running latex on a tex file):
1) If I use -Ppdf option in the dvips command, gv takes quite a few seconds to show me a magnified area. And I have noticed that if I select an area to magnify that contains some math symbols, gv also opens an error box, though the box is empty with no actual message. It does show the region magnified, but takes very long to render it.
2) If I use the -Pcmz option with dvips, I face no problems. All renderin in fast gv displays the magnified area pretty quicky.

Can somebody explain this behavior? I have never observed this when I used Redhat or Fedora.

I am using a few weeks old build of Sarge, and it is regularly updated so I have all the recent version of the various applications (gv, tetex, gs, etc.).

Thanks in advance,
->HS
