This may be a case of operator error, but...
I just received my "Syntax IC Card Reader - 7-in-1 external Card Reader"
when I plug the reader into a USB port, it shows via dmesg;
hub.c: new USB device 00:10.2-1, assigned address 4 WARNING: USB Mass Storage data integrity not assured USB Mass Storage device found at 4
and tail /var/log/messages shows; Apr 7 13:40:15 riverside kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:10.2-1,
assigned address 4 Apr 7 13:40:19 riverside usb.agent[16088]: kernel
driver usb-storage already loaded
I insert my sda memory card, but not shows in dmesg or /var/log/messages
doing a "cat /proc/scsi/scsi" show; Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: SAMSUNG Model: CD-ROM SC-152L Rev: C100 Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 01 Lun: 00 Vendor: Memorex Model: 52MAXX 2452AJ Rev: 6WS2 Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: IC Model: USB Storage-CFC Rev: 322E Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
my 2 cdrom/cd-writer, and the card reader..
Now, I'm "assuming" that the memory card will be sda/sda1, but nothings
shows up telling for sure.
If I attempt to run fsck or fdisk on /dev/sda I get the following error
message(s);
sudo fdisk /dev/sda1 Unable to open /dev/sda1
fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004) e2fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004) fsck.ext2: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read
while trying to open /dev/sda Could this be a zero-length partition?
Now I have no idea what else to try.
This is for the memory chip on my Microtek S1 camera, recently reviewed
on MozillaQuest
Thanks
Do you have USB Mass Storage compiled in or loaded as a module?
