Hello, I've got an install of Debian sid (unstable) with Xfree 4.3.0.1, an nvidia card and the latest builds of mplayer and xine. Neither can use the "xv" extension. When I try, I get the following errors:
With mplayer: Xlib: extension "XFree86-VidModeExtension" missing on display ":0.0". vo: X11 running at 1024x768 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display) Xlib: extension "XVideo" missing on display ":0.0". Sorry, Xv not supported by this X11 version/driver ******** Try with -vo x11 or -vo sdl ********* Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device. With xine: Xlib: extension "SHAPE" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "XVideo" missing on display ":0.0". main: video driver <xv> failed I know I could use the X11 or SDL video drivers, but they lack functionality and performance; you really need the xv extensions for good video playback. I read in an Mplayer HOWTO for Debian [1] that "in unstable xv might not work properly as a video output". How can I fix this?
