In exploring a bit further, I've found something that I'm wondering if it qualifies as a bug, and needs to have a report filed...
To recap: My system is a fresh-install of Debian (Sarge) using the installer. (Well, two systems actually. But this description is valid for both of them.) I have a CD-ROM and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive attached to this machine. Using KDE, I've tweaked the settings (using control center) to show unmounted CD-ROMs. (The second machine has a CD-ROM only.) From my experience with other Linuxes, this should put a couple of icons on my desktop, one for each CD/DVD drive. For some reason, this isn't happening. So I've done a little poking around, but I don't really know what to look for. No enties in fstab to relate to the CD/DVD drives though. So I booted up Knoppix 3.3 thinking that it's based on Debian, so I can probably just take what I find in fstab and copy it over... And I did find two lines in /etc/fstab for the drives: /dev/fd0 /mnt/auto/floppy auto user,noauto,exec,umask=000 0 0 /dev/cdrom /mnt/auto/cdrom auto user, noauto, exec,ro 0 0 /dev/cdrom1 /mnt/auto/cdrom1 auto users, noauto, exec,ro 0 0 And while /mnt/auto is a valid directory, there are no subdirectories. I don't know if creating those directories and then adding the lines to fstab will be enough to get things working, or if I'm going to screw things up on an unprecidented scale due to some unknown difference between Sarge and the Knoppix varient. Any thoughts/suggestions/comments? Thanks in advance, Krikket -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
