Don't you have an old kernel that you can still boot from? The kernel-package automatically creates a link to the old kernel that you can boot from.
Yes I do. But I was trying to get the new kernel working with XFree86. The old kernel at least has a terminal and my keyboard.
I guess it's a problem with the new (2.6.) kernel.
