I have my lovely debian in my box installed. To my knowledge morphix is a debian-based distro, like knoppix or gnoppix. Pls remind me, if my view is wrong. What I need is only a working gnome2, not a distro other than debian.
Nevertheless, any help is still highly appraciated.

I installed Gnome Morphix, because is Gnome for Debian ( Gnobian http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/gnobian).
So, I had not to install Gnome in Debian, because I installed them both at the same time ( Gnome Morphix ).
I suggested a compact installation ( Debian and Gnome at the same time; remember that Morphix includes autodetection....).
